Project More Transitional has been in operation since 1999. It is a State-funded, 28-bed, male only, program serving probation and pre-trial clients. Clients stay a minimum of four to a maximum of six months. Upon arrival clients are required to complete 150 hours of community service which is performed in city and state parks. This service can also be provided at various non-profit agencies throughout New Haven. Clients are required to seek employment and once employed must establish a savings account. Required programming includes: Case Management, AA and Job Readiness, NA, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Release Prevention, GED Prep Classes, and Life skills. On weekends they may attend outside AA and NA meetings as a group, transported by staff. The basic concept of the program is to instill self-discipline in clients that has not existed and to maintain this to give them a good foundation to restart their lives.
